Agriculture
Farm and Packhouse
We help growers properly identify what risks exist on their farms and in their pack houses and mitigate to prevent and reduce your risks from field to fork.
Under the Produce Safety Rule, covered farms must follow the standards set for worker health and hygiene, agricultural water, biological soil amendments, domesticated and wild animals, equipment, tools, sanitation and growing, harvesting, packing and holding activities.
The Food Safety Modernization Act gives the FDA the authority to request your facility’s food safety plans and records that document your implemented plans. The FDA can dive deeper into records of companies that process, pack or hold high-risk foods.

Hydroponics
Vegetables - Ensuring the safety of consumers is an obligation that we can help you meet and keep.
Whether you have a wick, deep water culture, drip, aeroponic, nutrient film technique, ebb and flow or a combination (hybrid) hydroponic system, understanding and controlling food safety risks requires experience.
It is critical that hydroponic growers follow good agriculture practices (GAP) and good manufacturing practices (GMP). Studies have shown that soilless production does not necessarily exclude contamination with foodborne pathogens.
Conducting a food safety hazard analysis of hydroponically grown vegetables in a closed growing and harvesting environment is far different than growing commercially.
Nutrient solution delivered to plant and roots that is not reused and closed excess solutions that are recovered, replenished, and recycled have different risks.

Bakery
FSCG provides Bakery, Snack Foods and Confectionary companies with assistance in evaluating their current compliance with FSMA 21 CFR PART 117 Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Foods.
Most baked goods, snack foods and confections meet the FSMA definition of Ready to Eat and many of the ingredients qualify as Allergens which will require strict adherence to FSMA GMP Allergen Control requirements. More baked foods are recalled because of allergen labeling problems than for any other reason. Cross-contact with allergens are commonly caused by weak preventive actions and procedures.
The FSMA GMP revisions identify 26+ allergen controls for cross-contact with handling, storage, and use, to controls or cross-contact and sanitation practices. Let us evaluate every step in your operations, from receiving ingredients to incorporating those ingredients to labeling the final product and offer successful compliance strategies.
FSMA food safety rules require a more demanding environmental monitoring program, particularly after the kill step has been applied. Seafood

The Food Safety Modernization Act recognizes that FDA has previously established a preventive control regulation with the seafood HACCP regulation.
FSMA also states that seafood processors are subject to certain parts of FSMA Preventive Controls for Human Food.
